I am planning to flight from Japan to Kazakhstan via Beijing (transit staying in airport for 5-6 hours). Do I need a transit visa in this case?
You do not need any visa as long as you stay in the airport up to 24 hours, otherwise you may need to apply for a transit visa which is not difficult to get.
Just curious, what happens if my flight being canceled and my stay in the airport exceeds from 24 hours?
In such case you will not be accused or charged for any mistake as it is beyond your control and you are just inside of the airport.

I am a Malaysian passport holder working and living in Western Kazakhstan with my fmaily. We are thinking of taking a holiday in North Eastern China this Decemeber. I would like to know how we could obtain the visa in Kazakhstan. We have had Chinese Visa in the past.
Is it possible to obtain the Chinese Visa in Almaty on our way to Beijing from Almaty?

Obtaining a Chinese Visa
Hello,
I am a US citizen traveling overland from Europe to China. I have acquired a Kazak visa and hope to obtain a Chinese visa in Kazakhstan. It is impossible for me to have obtained a visa in the US because it would have expired by the time I reached China. I have been turned down already in several cities and wonder if this is even possible.
Is it possible for a US citizen to obtain a Chinese visa in Kazakstan?
