We planing a trip to Nepall and will cross the border to enter Tibet region, I heard we need to get travel permit for Tibet, is it possible to get in Chinese Embassy in Nepal?
Tibet Travel permit should be obtained by Tibet Tourism Office or any local travel agent in China, not from Chinese embassy. But you need to get a China visa as well.

No, you not get on arrival better to apply beforehand from Chinese embassy in Kathmandu or in England.
The Chinese embassy in Kathmandu stopped processing visa applications for foreigners wishing to visit Nepal to Kailash Mansarovar in June this year since the border is closing on 25th June. Please can you tell me which was the closing date for applications? Thank you.
The closing time is from June 25 to July 25, last closing date for application was 7th June. But starting from March the travel permit to Tibet already became too hard to get.

When was it known that closing time of Chinese Embassy at Nepal is from June 25th to July 25th. We have blocked flight tickets and likely to loose re booking/ cancellation charges

Currently Tibet region is closed for foreigners and opening dates are unclear. We will inform you as soon as it is open.

Question about Tibet Visa

I am a US national living and working in India. I hope to travel overland from India to China through Nepal and the Tibetan region in April. I would like to know two things:
1. When I apply for the Tibet travel pass in Khatmandu, what is the cost?
2. Should I also apply separately for a visa to travel in China or will the Tibetan pass cover this as well? If I need this, can I also apply for this in Khatmandu?

Tourist visa
Is it possible to apply for a tourist visa for China in Kathmandu? I am a UK passport holder and will not return to the UK before going to Kathmandu. Are there any special conditions? I do not currently have my onward journey planned out of China (i.e. no flights booked) but am planning to exit China over land into Vietnam.
Tibet permit for july 2012
Dear Sir / Madam
We are a group of friends planning a Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage but 3 are from India, 4 are Indian Citizens living in Australia with Australian Residence Permit and 10 are Australian Passport holders.
Can we all as a group apply thru a Tour Operator in Katmandu for TTB & ATP Permits. Indian Passport holders must apply in India I was told but if someone is having Indian Passport but living in Australia then do they still have apply in India or is there a different procedure.
Please clarify and suggest a solution so that we can all be together as a group and go together from Katmandu to Kailash.
