My son, who is the holder of a British passport, is flying from Stockholm to Tokyo via Beijing with Air China. He will only be changing planes in Beijing and will be flying into and out of Terminal 3 both to and from Tokyo. Could you please tell me does he require any kind of visa? He is flying on Sunday 26th June so I need your reply as soon as possible please.

No, I can confirm that he will not need visa, as he changing flight in the same terminal and he does not have to go out of the airport.

I am travelling from Stockholm – Sydney, through Air China, and there will be a stop-over at Beijing. My stay at Beijing airport is about 8 hours. Air China informed me today that during return flight, the plane will also make a stop-over at Shangai to refuel. Do I need a visa as well? I will stay at airport terminal during the re-fueling etc. I will appreciate your reply as soon as possible.

No, you do not need visa for China, as long as you stay inside the airport.

I will fly from Melbourne to Stockholm via Beijing.
There is a gap between the conenctions, so I need to stay one night at a hotel in Beijing.
My total time in Beijing will be shorter than 24 hours.
