Basic Requirements for Applying for a Chinese Visa |
| When applying for a visa, foreigners are required to present relevant documents and go through the following formalities:
—-Your original valid passport with at least 2 blank visa pages and six months validity left before expiration —-one fully completed visa application form with your passport photo attached —-Sometimes, documents which explain and prove your reason to enter China are needed for visa application All the incomplete and false information in the visa application form would lead to the failure of application. And all the consequences arising therefrom shall be born by the applicant himself. |
| How to apply for a tourist visa?
Traveling in China requires a tourism visa (L). L Visa is sub-divided into two kinds: group visa and individual visa. If you are a part of a group, the tour operator will often obtain it. Group visas will usually be issued for groups with at least 5, and the guide accompanying your group will keep the visas. An Individual traveler can apply for one at any Chinese embassy or consulates, and the procedure is usually straightforward. China has its embassies and consulates in most western and many other countries. You can either get an application form in person at the embassy or consulate or download one by visiting the website of Chinese embassies in the foreign countries. After fully and accurately completed your application, you submit it to the nearest Chinese consulate and embassies, either in person or by mail. A standard 30-day, single-entry visa from most Chinese embassies abroad can be issued in three to five working days. Rush processing of 24 hours issue or same-day is also available (additional Embassy fee applies). When apply for a tourism visa, some extra documents are required sometimes besides the basic requirements: 1) For individual tourism visa, a letter of confirmation of the tour arrangement made by a travel agency in China or letter of reservation of hotel in China is required 2) For group tourist visas, a confirmation letter from a provincial tourist bureau or a government-authorized Chinese travel agency; a name list of the whole group in triplicate and one copy of the information page of each passport are required Foreigners from countries which have visa agreements with China, are treated in accordance with these agreements. Visitors who want to Tibet need to acquire the consent of the Tourism Administration of the Tibet Autonomous Region or any one of its foreign representative offices. Foreigners requesting to visit Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Xiamen and other Special Economic Zones may apply directly to visa authorities in these zones for tourist visas. Foreign tourist groups from Hong Kong for a 72-hour visit to the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone are exempt from entry visas. Tourist visas are usually valid for three months, but can be extended for an extra month at the Foreigners Section of the Public Security Bureau. Passports must be valid for at least six months before you travel to China. |
| Extension of Visa
Foreigners who want to stay in China beyond what their current visa allow need to apply for an extension to their visa with appropriate reasons. The extension application should be made at the municipal public security bureau 7 days before the visa expires. Multiple visas cannot be extended. Foreigners who wish to apply for extension or alteration of visas or certificates need to provided the relevant documents: 1) A valid passport and visa as well as the documents regarding accommodation registration The duration of visa extension: 1) F Visa: the total extensions add up to no more than 1 year and each extension should be less than 3 months Foreigners who are disallowed to extend: |

hi i will get a new australian passport on friday. i have taught english before in china on work visas “z” and now my visa is an “L” family visa. i have just been asked by a school to teach for them with a one year contract. the local police in this city say i need to go to hong kong with an invitation letter from the school. The company you are going to work has to provide all necessary documents to you including company registration which should be attested by ministry of foreign affairs and embassy of Ghana, the letter of appointment , you should also go through a medical check up in a appointed hospital.

You need to get business visa, if you have registered with the fair and got the original invitation card you can get the visa, if you only have got email invitation you might need to get a ltter from export development board to support your application.

I have been asked by my new employer to submit a None Criminal Testimony Report to them.According to my local authority, it needs to accomplished with a check list, provided by the Chinese government. No, There should be minimum 5 person to apply for a group visa. But in many cases if 5 person apply for the visa and 4 person travel on that visa there will be no problem, giving any solid reason for that missing person.

my name is Carlos and I’m Brazilian. I live in China already for 3 years. The first 3 years my family and I were staying in Dalian, Liaoning Province. We got a visa through my daughter that was attending to Dongbei University. However, we just moved to Zhuhai, Guangdong Province and my daughter is transfering her studies to Macau. We own a company in Hongkong but we can only take a visa through our company after two years, which will be only next year, January 2012. Because that’s when we can open a representative office in China Mainland. Our visa will expire in the end of September,2011. With this in mind, we have two questions.
1) Can my wife, my son and I take a tourist visa for 3 months?
2) Could you suggest 2 or 3 companies for us to do the quotation for the partnership enterprise or representative office?
3) My daughter will study in Macau but we expect her to come visit us quiet often in Zhuhai, during the weekends. Is there any special way (letter, official document) for her to come without getting a stamp in her passport every time? Otherwise she will have to get a new passport every few months.

The Chinese have made the visa as hard as getting the Nuclear Formula for Afghanistan Citizens, The agent ask for an amount of US1500-2000 on a passport on which you have visited 10-15 time china and getting on fresh passport is like having the atom bomb impossible to get china visa if you hav`nt been before.
They are making fun of the Afghan people.

I’m back in the US during the Chinese October holiday and my Z visa expires 14 October. I came to China since 2005, and i live and work here in China with F Visa without any problems. Then on May 2008 I got in love with a Chinese girl from Guangdong and we got married and we got the Marrige License on Agu 2009, then after that i got L Family Visa from Zhaoxing Immegration after very tired trying to get it because of they are low experiance for applying this kind of visa for Forigners who got married from Chinese, and they were giving me evry time for 6 Month Visa. and in 21ft of Nov 2009 my wife born our cute son, and now our son is 2 years old. And in Jul 2010 i went to Extend my Visa as normal before Expire time and apply with all neccessry documents as usual, but they day i was coming to collect my passport i supprised that they gave me Star Visa Valid for 7 days to leave China without explain to me the reason. As i have my wife and son here in China and i would like to keep living in this Country so i would like to get advice what should i do in this siutuation?

I am going to China this April for an Internship. I went to the Local Consulate in San Francisco last week and brought a completed Application, along with my Intern companies Invitation letter and Business license. They told me i needed some Document from the Office of Foreign affairs in Beijing.
When i told me intern director about this she didn’t know what to do because none of their previous interns even needed anything more than an invitation letter. I also talked to an intern personally and she never had this issue.
Is this a new rule?
My intern suggested i go to China for 30 days and extend my internship there. Is this possible without that Paper from the foreign Affairs?
